A2A2 Milk: Is it worth it?

I finally did it! I finally sent out samples and tested our cows A2A2 status.

Guess what? They BOTH came back positive!

What’s with the hype on A2A2 milk? You see it at Costco now. Milk and yogurt are marketed as A2A2.

You already noticed that your family has an easier time digesting it. But you don’t know why.

What the heck is A2A2?

The fact is, that A2A2 milk may just be what your body needs to tolerate milk.

It represents the beta-casein protein in milk. Other types of beta-casein can be A1/A1 and A1/A2.

If you can’t handle milk well it may be a casein intolerance. That is when your body has an immune response to the protein in the milk. If that’s the case, A2A2 milk may make a huge difference in your digestion!

The beta-casein protein has nothing to do with lactose (milk sugar). So people who are lactose intolerant won’t be more tolerant of A2A2 milk. Although, they may be able to handle raw milk better than pasteurized.

Fun fact: historically it is more likely that heritage breeds of cattle are A2A2. These would include Jersey cows, Brown Swiss and Guernsey. However, I currently milk 2 Holstiens! So it was a bit of a surprise to me that they both came back positive. This seems to be a trait producers are breeding for. And I’m thankful for it!

Chances are a local farm near you is keeping this in mind. If you’re looking for better health and superior tasting milk, get out there and find one!!

Does your body do better with A2A2 milk? Comment and let me know!
